Ryan Johansen pulls out all the stops in Breakaway Challenge
Beats out Ovechkin, Giroux in Skills Competition
After going first overall in Friday's NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Ryan Johansen put on a standout performance to win the Breakaway Challenge in Saturday's Skills Competition.
The 22-year-old Vancouver native had some tough competition in all-star veterans Claude Giroux and Alexander Ovechkin, but successfully mixed skill, creativity and the hometown advantage to take the contest.
His incredible first attempt featured an Ohio State University jersey. He followed that up by getting a young fan to take his second shot for him and even tried the Mighty Ducks' "Flying V".
