Maple Leafs trade Ashton, Broll to Lightning
Acquire conditional 7th-round draft pick in return
The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded Carter Ashton and David Broll to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2016 the team announced Friday.
Toronto will acquire the pick only if Ashton plays 15 games next season, otherwise the Leafs receive nothing.
Ashton was pointless in seven regular season games this season with the team. He was drafted by the Lightning in 2009.
Broll has not played for Toronto this season but has one assist in five career NHL games.
