Leafs' Nazem Kadri suspended 4 games for head shot
Blow to Edmonton's Fraser caused concussion
The NHL has suspended Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri for four games for his hit to the head of the Oilers' Matt Fraser.
Kadri received a two-minute minor penalty for the hit, which happened during Monday's 4-1 loss in Edmonton.
Fraser was helped off the ice and did not return to the game. He was diagnosed with a concussion.
"I'm not happy about it, but what are you going to do at this point? Obviously it wasn't my intent to injure the player and I hope he's doing all right," Kadri told reporters at Toronto's practice Wednesday.
Kadri, who will forfeit $141,463.40 US in salary, is a repeat offender under league rules. He was suspended three games last season for a hit to the head of Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom.
Kadri was playing in his second game since returning from a team-issued three-game hiatus for off-ice behaviour.
