Jaromir Jagr is ready to again lace up the skates.

The 46-year-old indicated Tuesday that he wants to play for the Kladno Knights next season, a team that he co-owns and serves as president.

Jagr told the website of the Czech Republic team that he intends to "return to the role of the player," after being assigned to Kladno in late January.

Jagr has played 24 NHL seasons but was waived by the Calgary Flames on Jan. 28. He had just one goal and six assists in 22 games while battling a knee injury that kept him out for months. He told the New York Times in April that he is open to another NHL stint should an opportunity arise.

Jagr ranks third in NHL history in games played (1,733) and goals (766), and second in points (1,921). He also spent five seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (2004-05, 2008-11).

After his release from the Flames, Jagr had hoped to suit up for Kladno but injuries that included a concussion prevented him from playing.
