5 NHL stories from 'fallout' Monday

Monday was Day 6 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, but much of the talk was focused on Sunday's shenanigans. Or the following 'Shanahanigans,' as some coined the league's response. But hey, there were three marquee Game 3 matchups, and plenty to talk about there too — all of this (and more!) are in today's 5 best.

1.  "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." Thank you, Roger Daltrey, for encapsulating in 1971 what many were saying on Twitter over this weekend about the performance of NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan.

2. One of those decisions Shanahan helped shape was to suspend Pittsburgh's Craig Adams and fine Penguins' coach Dan Bylsma for what happened at the tail end of Game 3 in Philadelphia. Do you agree with the decision? Vote in our poll within that story and let us know.

3. During the latest Coach's Corner, Don Cherry gave us his opinion on the Sidney Crosby's role in that same Game 3, the response by the league, and what playoff hockey is all about (hint: it's nothing like tennis).

4. Fans found out just before the puck dropped for Game 3 in Ottawa that Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson would not be in the lineup, and they let their thoughts and feelings be known on Twitter that 'Alfie' was sidelined. Turns out they could have used his offence as they were shut out by the Rangers.

5. The Bruins took the series edge in Washington with a 4-3 decision, but not before Boston goalie Tim Thomas' endured some gentle ribbing from Capitals fans (as you can see in the photo at the top of this story) — which inspired today's caption contest.

That's the scoop from Monday. Tuesday may also be partially dominated by the weekend's kerfuffles since two more Penguins (Arron Asham, James Neal) have hearings scheduled.
