Manny Legace joins Blues
Goaltender Manny Legace has signed with the St. Louis Blues.
Earlier this summer, the Detroit Red Wings cut ties with the veteran.
''The Blues are thrilled to bring a veteran goaltender with a career winning record to our team,'' said club president John Davidson. He added that the addition gives the Blues "solid depth in goal."
Legace, 33,had a 37-8-0 record with a 2.19 goals-against average last season, but was blamed for the team's loss to the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the playoffs.
Heshould help shore up a defence that allowed the third-most goals in the league last year, averaging 3.46 per game.
The Blues have also Jason Bacashihua and Curtis Sanford in net.
Last week, the Red Wings signed Dominik Hasek, 41,to a one-year contract. It's the Czech's third tour of duty in Detroit.
He helped lead the Wings to the Stanley Cup championship in 2002.
