Leafs looking to trade for Tkachuk: report
It seems that the trade winds never stop circling around the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Just when Leafs coach and general manager Pat Quinn thought he'd heard enough talk about Eric Lindros and Rob Blake, another report has surfaced that Toronto is poised to make a blockbuster seven-player deal involving the Phoenix Coyotes.
The proposed trade, according to the Toronto Sun, would see Coyotes captain Keith Tkachuk, forward Travis Green and defenceman Jyrki Lumme coming to the Leafs in exchange for Nik Antropov, Sergei Berezin, Adam Mair and Danny Markov.
It's speculated that Tkachuk will find himself in a new uniform by the NHL trade deadline.
Tkachuk's $8.5 million US salary is too rich for the Coyotes and under the financing conditions of the incoming Phoenix ownership, the group must cut its budget.
The Sun is also reporting that the Leafs might get involved in a three-way deal with the Philadelphia Flyers and Phoenix that would land Lindros in Toronto.
