Hockey Night's 3 Stars
CBCSports.ca senior reporter Tim Wharnsby names the top performers in the NHL from Tuesday night.
FIRST STAR: Sidney Crosby, C, Pittsburgh
Crosby had two goals and four assists, matching his career high of six points in the Penguins' 6-4 win at home against the New York Islanders. Crosby now has 32 goals on the season, two behind the league-leading pace set by San Jose's Patrick Marleau.
SECOND STAR: Evgeni Malkin, C, Pittsburgh
Malkin recorded his fifth career hat trick in the Penguins win to end the Islanders' four-game win streak. He busted out of a slump last Saturday that had not seen him score in 11 matches, and now has four goals in his past two games.
THIRD STAR: Marian Gaborik, RW, N.Y. Rangers
Gaborik had the second four-assist game of his nine-year career in the Rangers' 8-2 win against Tampa Bay. Only two Rangers skaters — Michal Rozsival and Artem Anisimov — failed to register a point in the victory.
