FIRST STAR: Alex Burrows, LW, Vancouver

Burrows scored a hat trick to help the surging Canucks dispose of the struggling Columbus Blue Jackets 7-3 at GM Place. Vancouver has won six of seven to move into a tie for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

SECOND STAR: Jordan Staal, C, Pittsburgh

With the possibility that injured centre Patrice Bergeron may be replaced on the Canadian Olympic team, one of the candidates, Staal, scored twice and added an assist in the Penguins' 5-2 win at home against Atlanta.

THIRD STAR: Martin Brodeur, G, New Jersey

Thanks to Brodeur’s fifth shutout of the season, the league-leading Devils became the first club to reach the 30-win mark. Brodeur stopped 28 shots in New Jersey’s sixth consecutive victory at home, a 4-0 decision against Dallas.
