The Canadiens netminder made 45 saves and three more on Bruins David KrejciMichael Ryder and Marc Savard in the shootout in Montreal's 3-2 win in Boston. It was the seventh time this season Halak has made 40 or more saves in a game and on each occasion recorded a victory.

The Capitals extended their club record win streak to 12 games with a come-from-behind 6-5 win against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York. Backstrom, skating on a line with Alexander Ovechkin and Mike Knuble, had a goal and four assists to give him six goals and 13 points during Washington's win streak.

The Kings defenceman scored once and assisted on three goals as Los Angeles matched a club record with its eighth win in a row in a 6-4 decision at home against AnaheimAnze Kopitar was good, too, with a pair of goals and four points.
