CBCSports.ca senior reporter Tim Wharnsby names the top performers in the NHL from the weekend.

FIRST STAR: Jarome Iginla, RW, Calgary

The Flames sniper registered his 10th career hat trick and added an assist in Calgary’s 5-2 win in Minnesota  on Sunday. Iginla, who set up Sidney Crosby for Canada’s gold-medal clinching goal in overtime exactly one week before, has scored six times in his past five games to reach the 30-goal mark for the ninth consecutive season.

SECOND STAR: Chris Stewart, RW, Colorado

For a kid who was returned to the minors earlier this season, the 22-year-old forward certainly has earned a permanent stay with the Avalanche. His first career three-goal game — plus and an assist — in Colorado’s 7-3 win against St. Louis on Saturday gives him 24 goals on the season.

THIRD STAR: Jeff Deslauriers, G, Edmonton

The Oilers goalie notched his third shutout of the season on Sunday, stopping 22 shots in Edmonton’s 2-0 win at home against the struggling New Jersey Devils. He has stopped 50 of 51 shots in back-to-back wins for Edmonton.
