Hockey Night's 3 Stars

Matt Moulson was the first star on Thursday, scoring three goals for the Islanders to snap Atlanta's four-game win streak with a 4-1 victory on the road.

CBCSports.ca senior reporter Tim Wharnsby names the top performers in the NHL from Thursday night.

FIRST STAR: Matt Moulson, F, N.Y. Islanders

Moulson scored three goals for the Islanders to snap Atlanta's four-game win streak with a 4-1 victory on the road. Moulson now has a team-leading 14 goals in 28 games after scoring six times in his first 29 NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings over parts of the past two seasons.

SECOND STAR: Roberto Luongo, G, Vancouver

The Canadian men's Olympic team goalie (at least we think so) earned his second shutout of the season and 50th in his career with 38 saves in a 3-0 road win in Philadelphia. Luongo has won four of his past five games and back-to-back games to begin the Canucks four-game road swing.

THIRD STAR: Patrick O'Sullivan, F, Edmonton

O'Sullivan busted out of a five-game goal-less drought by scoring twice during the Oilers' 4-1 win in Detroit. It was only Edmonton's third victory in 11 games.
