Mathieu Dandenault and Dan Hinote were released Sunday after attending training camp for the San Jose Sharks on a tryout basis.

Dandenault, 33, spent the last four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens. He played just 41 games, with four goals and eight assists.

A forward while a junior player in Sherbrooke, Dandenault has spent most of his NHL career as a defenceman.

He has 68 goals and 135 assists in 868 games, getting his name on the Stanley Cup twice while with the Detroit Red Wings.

Hinote, 32, also played with a Stanley Cup winner, in Colorado in 2001. The veteran of 503 NHL games had spent the last three seasons with the St. Louis Blues.
