Canadiens summon Sergei Kostitsyn from minors
Left-winger posts 14 points in 16 games with AHL Hamilton Bulldogs
Seeking an offensive spark, the Montreal Canadiens recalled left-winger Sergei Kostitsyn from their American Hockey League affiliate on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Russian rejoins a Canadiens squad that has lost five consecutive games and scored 12 goals over that span.
Kostitsyn started the season in Montreal and has posted eight goals and 23 points in 52 NHL games this season.
In 16 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs, Kostitsyn amassed 14 points (five goals, nine assists) and a plus-4 rating.
The Canadiens hold down the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a 36-27-9 record for 81 points, one more than No. 9 Florida.
