Bouwmeester succeeds Brunette as NHL ironman
Andrew Brunette was not in the lineup on Saturday night for the Minnesota Wild, ending his NHL-best consecutive games streak.
Brunette suffered a lower body injury in Thursday's game against Calgary and didn't suit up against Detroit on Saturday, halting the streak at 509 games. He last missed a game on Dec. 31, 2001, the only game he missed that season for the Wild.
The left winger has 13 goals and 19 assists in 56 games in his first season back with Minnesota after three years with the Colorado Avalanche.
The injury leaves Florida Panthers defenceman Jay Bouwmeester as the new NHL ironman. Bouwmeester was in the lineup Saturday against Boston, his 323rd game in a row.
Carolina Hurricanes centre Eric Staal has played 314 consecutive games.
Doug Jarvis holds the all-time mark. playing in 964 straight games between 1975 and 1987.
