Heatley goes to Ottawa, Hossa to Atlanta in NHL trade
NHL sniper and former Rookie of the Year, Dany Heatley, is about to be an Ottawa Senator.
Atlanta traded Heatley to Ottawa on Tuesday in exchange for forward Marian Hossa and defenceman Greg de Vries
Heatley's agent, Stacey McAlpine said he had approached the Thrashers a couple of weeks ago requesting a change of environment for Heatley.
In February, Heatley was sentenced to three years probation for his role in a car accident in Sept.2003, which claimed the life of Atlanta team-mate Dan Snyder.
Heatley was speeding on a road in Atlanta when he lost control of his Ferrari and smashed into a fence.
The Heatley-Hossa deal came just hours after the Senators avoided salary arbitration with Hossa by signing the star forward to an $18-million US, three-year deal.
Both Heatley and Hossa are high-scoring right-wingers.
