Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Reid is coming off the best year of his CFL career after rushing for a career and league-high 1,396 yards last season.

After signing with the Blue Bombers as a free agent in 2007, Reid has flourished in the back field, holding team records for most rushing yards in a game during a 260-yard effort two years ago against the B.C. Lions.

Reid, who earned the starting spot at running back midway through the 2008 season,  has rushed 592 times for 3,746 yards and 18 touchdowns in four seasons with Winnipeg. He's also recorded 77 receptions for 628 yards and a touchdown.

"Fred Reid is a consummate professional and someone who leads by example," said vice-president and general manager Joe Mack. "He is a big part of our offence and someone we're glad to have as part of our team for many years."

Reid earned CFL all-star honours last season and has been an East Division all-star in each of the past three seasons.
