Eddie Jordan has been offered the head coaching position of the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source also said an announcement hasn't been confirmed.

Jordan, who was let go by the Washington Wizards six months ago, was interviewed on two occasions by 76ers president Ed Stefanski.

The Wizards still owe the former seven-year NBA player $4 million US next season, and would need to make up the difference on the contract from the next team that Jordan coaches.

Jordan has compiled a 230-288 coaching record with the Wizards and the Sacramento Kings.
