Canada dropped a 59-53 game to Argentina late Saturday at FIBA America's women's basketball tournament and will play for the bronze medal.

Teresa Gabriele of Mission, B.C., led the Canadian squad with 13 points, the only one on the team to finish in double figures in the game at Cuiaba, Brazil.

"I'm super-proud of this team and the way we battled back, because not a lot went our way in the first half," head coach Allison McNeill said. "But we shot 29 per cent from the field and you're not going to win many games doing that at this level."

Canada will face Cuba for the bronze on Sunday night. The winner will qualify for a berth at next year's world championships in the Czech Republic.

Argentina and host Brazil have locked up spots at the worlds and will play for the gold on Sunday.
