Chris Getz strikes minor league deal with Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with infielder Chris Getz to a 2014 minor league contract with an invitation to attend major league spring training.

The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with infielder Chris Getz to a 2014 minor league contract with an invitation to attend major league spring training.

Getz, 30, spent last season with the Kansas City Royals, batting .220 with one home run, 18 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases in 78 games.

The left-handed hitter has appeared in 449 major league games for the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City, hitting .251 with 63 extra base hits (49 doubles, 11 triples, three home runs) and 87 stolen bases.
