The Cleveland Indians placed Grady Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, and also called up utility man Chris Gimenez from the team's triple-A affiliate in Columbus, Ohio.

The All-Star has struggled at the plate due to a left elbow injury, and hasn't played in his normal spot in the outfield.

He did well against the New York Yankees on Saturday, hitting his club-leading ninth home run on Saturday. But Sizemore is only batting .223 overall.

Last year Sizemore, 26, had career-highs in home runs (33), runs batted-in (90), and stolen bases (38). He batted .268 for the season.

Gimenez will be called up to the big club to back up catcher Kelly Shoppach.
