Airport fire claims team Canada ski equipment
The season hasn't even started yet and already the Canadian ski team has suffered a major loss.
A fire in a warehouse at London's Heathrow Airport has destroyed more than $150,000 in equipment belonging to the men's technical ski team. Skis, computers used for training, and radios have all gone up in smoke.
Alpine Canada president Gary Allan says the equipment was being stored in the warehouse prior to it being shipped to New Zealand, where the team is holding a training camp.
Team officials are currently scrambling to find replace equipment so the camp can go ahead as planned.
The fire occurred last week but Canadian officials didn't learn of the loss until Wednesday.
