Theola Ross is originally from Pimichikamak Cree Nation. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work degree at Ryerson University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 2000. In addition to her love for the arts, she has many years of frontline experience in the social services sector and ia strong advocate for her community. She has developed a broad perspective of social and cultural context that lends a hand in the current political discourse of First Nations people. These perspectives, along with her lived experience, have made her the person she is today. Theola’s work focuses on real-life topics, issues or events and is witness to individuals’ daily struggles and triumphs. Being able to speak her own language is important to her and whenever she gets the chance to speak to a Cree speaker, it's the primary language she prefers to use.
