Maisie Jacobson is an emerging writer, director and producer living in Toronto. She studied art history and Canadian studies at McGill University, and has focused her research on outsider and self-taught art. Maisie’s academic background and experiences as a curator inform the strong visual sense she brings to her practice. Deeply passionate about film, Maisie has enjoyed learning about all aspects of pre and post production while working at Sassafras Films as an associate producer for the past three years. With a keen observational eye and adept understanding of human nature, Maisie creates work that is hyperrealist and intimate. She has a special interest in documentary film, in particular character studies on unusual or marginal subjects. Her writing was shortlisted for PRISM International’s Non-Fiction Contest in 2013, and she co-curates the performance and installation art project Unhealthy, Badly at Videofag Gallery. Maisie currently has a one-hour crime drama series in development at Temple Street Productions.
