Everything was going well for Mathieu Arsenault — until the day a voice in his head told him to leave his family behind in Montreal, travel to San Francisco to start a spiritual revolution.
Everything was going well for filmmaker Mathieu Arsenault — until the day a voice in his head told him to go to San Francisco to find his "cosmic twin" and start a spiritual revolution.
At the time, he had no idea he was experiencing his first bipolar manic episode. So he packed his bags, leaving behind his pregnant wife and child in Montreal, in order to pursue what he thought would be his new life.
But when his "divine mission" started to conflict with his love for his family, he had to make a life-changing decision.
Arsenault first shared his story on Tapestry.
This Happened to Me is a video series from CBC Radio that explores the turning points in our lives — the moments that changed everything.
