Lexxicon is a hip-hop/dancehall artist who was born in Jamaica, grew up in England and spent time in Brooklyn before settling in Toronto. This cosmopolitan experience translates into the music he creates.

He stopped by The Next Chapter to discuss the book that he's currently reading and why.

"I love making music. Music is what speaks to me; it's what gets me going in the morning. The book I'm reading is How To Make It in the New Music Business by Ari Herstand. He's a musician, blogger and writer who stays up to date on current trends. He's always giving out advice to music artists about what they can do to grow their career on an independent level before trying to get to a bigger level.

It breaks down everything that you need to know as an artist.- Lexxicon

"I love this book. It breaks down everything that you need to know as an artist. It talks about performance. It talks about your attire. It talks about the different partners that you need in order to build your team and career."

Lexxicon's comments have been edited for length and clarity.
