Today on The Current:

Angela Power's former husband owed $490K in unpaid child support, in a fight it took years to resolve. She joins Matt Galloway to discuss the extreme case, and we look at the links between unpaid child support and child poverty with Cheryl Goldhart, a family lawyer in Toronto who recently argued a case involving child support at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Plus, tensions have been growing between China and Taiwan, with swirling speculation of a conflict that could ultimately involve the U.S. We hear about the mood in Taipei with Wen-Ti Sung, a Taiwan expert and lecturer at the Australian National University; and discuss what might be needed to keep the peace with David Sacks, a research fellow with the Council on Foreign Relations; and Wenran Jiang, a former professor of political science at the University of Alberta and now an advisor with the Institute for Peace and Diplomacy.

Then, when Beethoven died 194 years ago, his 10th Symphony was unfinished. Now, researchers have finished it — with the help of artificial intelligence. We hear how they did it, and what it sounds like, with Ahmed Elgammal, director of the Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Rutgers University.

And Philippine journalist Maria Ressa has won the Nobel Peace Prize, sharing it with Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov for their defence of freedom of expression. We revisit our conversation with Ressa from last year, recorded in the week she was handed a conviction that she said was a politically motivated response to her journalism.
