Messaging apps are hugely popular all over the world, in large part because they're a more affordable alternative to SMS text messaging. But sociologist and Snapchat researcher Nathan Jurgenson argues another reason -- messaging apps offer a more organic form of interaction than communicating through traditional social media platforms.
