'It's really hard to make raw pork look good': Director Domee Shi on the making of Pixar short Bao
If you've moved out of your family home to go to college or to get a job, then you'll know that's it's not easy, no matter how ready you are for a change. If you're a parent yourself, then you'll know that it can be even harder on the people we leave behind.
Pixar's newest short film really captures that idea. It's called Bao and it's about a Chinese-Canadian mother who gets a second chance at raising a child when a dumpling she makes comes to life. The short film is directed by Domee Shi, the first woman ever to direct a Pixar short.
Shi joined Tom Power in the q studio to talk about the ideas in this film, and how they come straight from her own childhood home in Toronto. You can see Bao in theaters before Incredibles 2 starting on Friday, June 15.
