In the lead up to tonight's final episode of Republic of Doyle, Allan Hawco reflects on six years of speeding around Newfoundland as private eye Jake Doyle.

The series, set in St John's, follows Doyle as he investigates everything from horse thefts to murder, while also dealing with the ups and downs of his personal life.

TV critics have praised the CBC dramedy for its tightly plotted mysteries -- enlivened with flashes of humour -- and impressive roster of special guest actors, including Oscar-winner Russell Crowe.
