Sarah Lazarovic on how to stop impulse buying pretty things

Author of 'A Bunch of Pretty Things I Did Not Buy' on resisting the urge to consume.

Black Friday, now one of the biggest shopping days of the year, is once again sweeping North America with door-crasher sales and shop-til-you-drop messaging. But amid all the chaos, Sarah Lazarovic is calling for calm.

The visual artist joins guest host Tom Power to discuss her year-long shopping sabbatical, as chronicled in A Bunch of Pretty Things I Did Not Buy. Lazarovic shares how painting, instead of purchasing, new items helped quiet her inner consumer and how others might diffuse their desires in creative ways.
