Peter Engel's dream was to create a prime time variety show but instead, he ended up creating Saved by the Bell.

So how did he go from one to the other? All is revealed in Engel's new memoir, I Was Saved By the Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams That Do Come True. The man behind other shows like Hang Time, USA High and All About Us looks back at his accomplished career as a television producer in the book, focusing on his time working on Saved by the Bell

"It was the greatest journey of my life," he says of his time on the hit '90s series. "It was like a fairytale."

With so many years or experience under belt, he has some wise words for people hoping to find a career in television: "Have a vision of what you want to do and keep going no matter how many time you've had your heart broken."
