The Mavericks and Whitney Rose join forces in studio q

A very special Friday Live performance featuring renowned country/roots group The Mavericks alongside rising Canadian star Whitney Rose.

Whitney Rose was just a kid when The Mavericks first hit the music scene, but these days the rising Canadian songstress is performing alongside the seasoned roots/country performers.

In a special Friday Live performance featuring both acts, Rose and The Mavericks perform from their respective new records — Heartbreaker of the Year and Mono — then come together for a beautiful cover of Be My Baby.

Rose and the band's lead singer Raul Malo also sit down with Shad to discuss their intergenerational musical partnership, and what they've learned from one another.

Mentorship never sounded so good! Shad is flanked by Raul Malo (left) of The Mavericks and rising Canadian country singer Whitney Rose in studio q. (Fabiola Carletti/CBC)
