In a segment that we call the q Thursday Headliner, we invite a band or artist we think you need to hear to kick off the show with a live performance.

This week, Montreal singer-songwriter Patrick Watson drops by the studio alongside his band to perform a few new songs from his forthcoming album, Wave. It's a record inspired by the most human emotion of them all: sadness. He opens up about grief, having to start over and learning to let go.

You can catch Watson on tour through to December.

Watch Watson's performances below.
