A few years ago, music critic Ann Powers spent a memorable evening with Prince that she'll not soon forget.

Powers is a Prince fan through and through — calling him her "absolute number one" — but what really appealed to her was the community the artist created at his concerts and through his music.

"I believe music enters our bodies and our souls and can incrementally makes us different people," Powers says.

And not only was Prince a musical genius, Powers says he was also quite the comedian.

"He just had the sharpest wit," she tells Shad, "he'd engineer the situation so he'd get a laugh, and I loved that about him."
