Stand-up: taking to the comedy stage for the first time

Despite the fear and core-shaking anxiety, Vanessa Caldwell wanted to try stand-up comedy and she recently took the stage for the first time with some help from the all­-girl stand­-up class, Comedy Girl.

Picture this: You're alone on a stage, bright lights are shining on you making the audience seem like a hazy mirage. But the lump in your throat reminds you, they're all too real. And now ... you need to make them laugh.

Despite the fear and core-shaking anxiety, Vanessa Caldwell wanted to try stand-up comedy. She recently got up on stage for the first time with some help from the all­-girl stand­-up class, Comedy Girl. But when it came time to perform, it was just her and that microphone.
