Was it necessary to fire Don Cherry?

After comments seemingly targeting immigrants for not wearing poppies, veteran hockey commentator Don Cherry was fired by Sportsnet this week.

After comments seemingly targeting immigrants for not wearing poppies, veteran hockey commentator Don Cherry was fired by Sportsnet this week. 

His words — pointing at "you people ... that come here" — unleashed a fury of upset and turned Canada's beloved game, inside out.

Our question this week: Was it necessary to fire Don Cherry?
