In the early hours of Thursday morning, Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine by land, air and sea.

Many Ukrainians were scrambling to flee the country as Russian forces attacked the capital, Kyiv, on Friday. Russia says it has captured multiple areas, including Chornobyl, the former nuclear power plant north of Kyiv.

Countries including Canada and the United States have responded with sanctions, but the situation is evolving hourly.
