Pilot recreates flight path in 'The Shepherd' using computer simulator
Every Christmas Eve, As It Happens plays Alan Maitland's reading of Frederick Forsyth's The Shepherd. This year, we have a computer simulated version of the entire flight path from Germany to the UK.
The year is 1957. An RAF pilot is heading home from Germany for Christmas. Fog sets in, and all radio communication is lost.
Los Angeles-based pilot Paul Chepikian recorded the take-off in the classic story, and retraced the route on his X-Plane flight simulator.
