Tensions between City Hall and Municipal employees
Relations between City Hall and Quebec City's unionized workers have been tense, to say the least, and last month's election campaign didn't help. Recently re-elected mayor Régis Labeaume says that the unions have this city by the throat, and the only solution to the growing problem of the huge deficit in employees' pension plans is through new powers that would allow cities to dictate a better sharing of the burden.
