Quebec company calls for motion detectors on trains

The investigation into the train derailment in Lac-Mégantic is underway, and being followed closely. Among the unanswered questions are those relating to the braking system and automated emergency backups when normal brakes are not operational.

UNGAVA Technologies, a Quebec company which specializes in electronics, embedded software and digital signal processing, stated in a letter to the federal Transport Minister that a simple technology, one that already exists, could have prevented the tragedy.

The author of the letter is François Mainguy, Chairman of UNGAVA Technologies. He joined Shaun Lyons in studio this morning.
