Townships cities push for railway safety

sarahrogers.JPGIn the aftermath of the deadly train derailment in Lac-Mégantic, municipalities in the Eastern Townships are teaming up to ensure better rail safety for their own communities. Magog Mayor Vicky May Hamm convened a special meeting of town councillors on Monday to adopt a resolution asking the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway company to provide more information on their operations, emergency plan and maintenance program.

Other communities in the region, as members of Union of Quebec Municipalities are also looking at taking similar action. Our Townships Reporter Sarah Rogers tells us more.
