Daniel Boyer acclaimed new president of the FTQ

For the first time in almost 50 years, there was going to be an election for President of the Quebec Federation of Labour. But at the start of the union's convention yesterday, the only challenger to Michel Arsenault's handpicked successor bowed out, and Daniel Boyer was acclaimed.

Jean Charest is a Professor and Director of the School of Industrial Relations at Université de Montréal. He tells us about the long tradition of assuring succession and what it means for change in the embattled FTQ.
