Concerns around youth protection in community of Lac-Simon

lac-simon-discussions_6.jpgPeople in the Anishnabe community of Lac-Simon have been blockading the entrance to that community for four days now, preventing social service workers coming into town. Grandparents of children who are taken out of their homes in Lac-Simon want them to stay with family members, instead of being sent out of the community.

Aurelie Arnaud, with The Quebec Native Women Association, tells us about their efforts to change the legislation that regulates foster care in First Nation communities.

We also hear from Mélanie Savard, Director of Services for the Youth Centre of Abitibi-Temiscamingue.
