Leadership shake-up at FTQ

hi-ftq-michel-arsenault-quits.jpgUnder fire and under scrutiny, FTQ President Michel Arsenault has decided not to seek re-election later this month. He said it's simply time for others to take over, and rejected ongoing allegations about the union's proximity to organized crime.

Plans for his succession are already emerging. The union's current secretary-general, Daniel Boyer, will run for the presidency. In turn, executive board vice-president Serge Cadieux will seek the job of secretary-general.

Watching all this with great interest is Yves Ouellet, President of FTQ-Construction.
