Quebec City's staircases star of new book "Le Carnet des Escaliers de Québec"

5070_escaliers.jpgGoing up and down Quebec City's many staircases is a way of life for many residents who have to get from the lower to the upper town on a daily basis, but these staircases are also an important legacy of the city's history and development.

A group of local artists initiated a project to immortalize these forty-four sets of stairs in a book entitled "Le Carnet des Escaliers de Québec."

Marie Dagenais wrote the texts that accompany the dozens of watercolours in the book and her husband, Pierre Toupin, is one of the artists.
