People of a Feather
Biologist and filmmaker Joel Heath has been studying the eider duck population of Sanikiluaq, on the Belcher Islands for decades. Over that time, he fell in love with the small Inuit community, located just 150 kilometres off the coast of Nunavik, in Hudson's Bay.
His film, People of a Feather, looks at the relationship between the people of Sanikiluaq and the eider duck. It tracks how the duck population is threatened by sudden freeze-ups, which his research indicates is caused by fresh water flushed from hydroelectric dams in James Bay.
