Prevalence of Cree languages in Quebec

The Canadian language census data was released yesterday, and as usual, tongues were wagging over the changing linguistic landscape across the country. One of the changes that stood out was the fact that approximately one in five people reporting an Aboriginal mother tongue live in Quebec. There was also a slight increase in the number of people who call Cree their mother tongue. Kevin Brousseau, the Cree languages coordinator for the Grand Council of the Cree of Quebec shares his insights into the state of the language in Quebec.
