Folk-rock singer Lisa Leblanc

It seemse like music goes through cycles like everything else on earth and right now there's a bit of a trend amongst women who sing in French. There are a lot of very fine, very delicate voices, a lot of elegant singers accompanying themselves on piano. Think Coeur de Pirate or Ingrid St. Pierre. Poetic lyrics, set to music. Then there's this.

Lisa Leblanc's Aujourd'hui Ma Vie C'est D'la Marde, has made her an overnight sensation. The song scored the 21-year-old from Rosaireville, New Brunswick - population 40 - an invite to Tout le Monde en Parle. That appearance saw her album rocket to the top of the itunes charts. That week she sold more discs in Canada than Adele or One Direction.
