Cross Country Check-up on CBC News Network, with Ian Hanomansing

Simulcast with CBC Radio One, watch a lively discussion on an issue of national interest, hosted by Ian Hanomansing. Canada's only national open line radio program, broadcasts live simultaneously through six time zones across Canada every Sunday afternoon. Each week, there is a lively discussion on an issue of national interest, inviting listeners to call in with their thoughts and opinions.

The National’s Ian Hanomansing guest hosts this season while Duncan McCue is away from CROSS COUNTRY CHECKUP on a Massey College journalism fellowship.

A Canadian tradition, CROSS COUNTRY CHECKUP is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2020. The program was first broadcast in the spring of 1965, during the bitter debate over whether there should be a national publicly funded health-care system (hence the somewhat medical name of the show!). It has proven to be a mainstay in fulfilling CBC Radio's mandate to reflect Canada to all Canadians. Close to half-a-million listeners tune in each week to hear a lively exchange of ideas between callers and invited guests, as well as a broad cross-section of opinion on the topic of the day. On average, 20,000 people call the program during the broadcast to join the discussion.
